Important: FFY2022 Changes to Benefits Amounts

CDSS has released an All County Information Notice that details the new benefit levels, updated deductions, income limits, and other information about changes coming on October 1st, 2021. In summary, here are the changes starting Friday, 10/01:

  • The updated Thrifty Food Plan and the annual Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) goes into effect - which adjusts income guidelines, deductions, and maximum allotment amounts based on changes to the cost of living. This will result in an increase in benefits.

  • The temporary 15% pandemic boost is expiring, which will result in a decrease in benefits.

These increases and decreases taken all together means that CalFresh recipients will see an overall slight increase in their monthly amounts.

Below you will find the following support information and resources, which have been posted to the support website:

  • A CalFresh COLA Outreach Worker Fact Sheet (English) – Please take some time to review and understand the information summarized in this Fact Sheet

  • A Q&A sheet

There is an additional resource to use in communicating to clients about the Cost of Living Adjustment. The below flyer is in both English and Spanish and has also been posted to the resources page of our support website.
